Who we are

Women’s Voice is a charity run by women for all women in Hastings and St Leonards.

We include and support women of all ages and sexual orientations, trans and non-binary people, all global majority from African, Asian and Caribbean diasporas, women of all abilities, women of all religious beliefs and none, asylum seekers, refugees and migrants.

Women’s Voice was founded in 2006 by Shiva Serati. Her aim was to bring global women’s issues to the local community through International Women’s Day and organising workshops to explore issues that are important to women.

Women’s Voice became a charity in 2016 and has seen many women involved as trustees and committee members. This archive offers a glimpse into the previous work of Women’s Voice and shows how this work is never complete.

The current trustees and committee would like to thank Shiva Serati, Ann Kramer, Agatha Coffey, Emily Johns, Lorna Vahey, Gill Knight, Kirsty Grennan, Sabina Arthur, Megan Cronin, Rona Drennan and Marylyn Edwards for all their inspirational work.

Our values

We recognise that all women are individuals with their own unique experiences, histories, and viewpoints, and that these differences provide an opportunity for us to learn and grow together.

  • We take an intersectional approach to supporting and working with women
  • We seek to work together from a place of kindness and mutual respect
  • We value diversity
