Over the last six weeks, a group of Women’s Voice trustees have been getting hands-on at Flatlands Studios in Bexhill, learning practical DIY skills with Adam Burton from Do Your Ideas, a new creative carpentry studio.
Adam’s DIY Around Your Home course has been a huge success—informative, empowering, and welcoming. Participants have shared:
“I really enjoyed his down-to-earth, calm teaching style and non-patronising manner. Even if you live in fear/ignorance of power tools, he can get you to feel confident using them.”
“The lessons are worth the money and will kickstart you into finally getting those niggly DIY jobs done. Thoroughly recommended!”
These sessions introduced key tools, techniques, and safe practices for tackling everyday DIY jobs at home. They’ve sparked confidence, curiosity, and a desire to do more.
What’s Next?
We’re now exploring ways to work with Adam to offer bursary places on his future courses, or bi-annual funded sessions for women, trans, and non-binary people
